SUKHUMI, Georgia (AP) - The separatist Georgian republic of Abkhazia says it has shot down another unmanned Georgian spy plane over its territory.
The claim by Abkhazian foreign minister Sergei Shamba has been quickly denied by Georgian authorities.
Shamba says the plane was shot down Monday over the Gali district of Abkhazia, a Georgian region that has been de-facto independent since the end of a separatist war in the 1990s.
Georgian authorities acknowledge that a pilotless drone was shot down last month, but lay the blame on Russia, which has close contacts with Abkhazia. Since then, Abkhazia says it has shot down at least four other such planes, but those claims have not been confirmed.
